Manchester United Vs Real Madrid (UEFA Super Cup) Match Report.
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Valencia ( C ), Lindelof, Smalling, Darmian, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Lingard, Lukaku.
Real Madrid XI: Keylor, Carvajal, Ramos ( C ), Varane, Marcelo, Casemiro, Kroos, Modric, Isco, Bale, Benzema.
We start with the UEFA Super cup Between the winners of the Europa League against the winners of the UEFA Champions League.
Both Clubs will be coming into this game with very different Pre season tours of the US. Manchester United played a total of 7 matches and and won 6, losing one against a very strong Barcelona side. Real Madrid not played as many games as Manchester United, playing four games and winning only two. Manchester United will be without Eric Bailly due to a three-match ban following his red card against Anderlecht at Old Trafford in April..Phil Jones is also unavailable due to a two-match UEFA ban for using abusive language to a doping control officer at the Europa League final.
The long and anticipated match between the biggest clubs in the football world, Manchester United Vs Real Madrid, both teams have big names in their teams. Wiil Cristiano Ronaldo come back to haunt his old team and maybe get the last say in this massive game which is the UEFA Super Cup.
Antonio Valencia captains and leads the Man Utd team out tonight and Sergio Ramos captains and leads Real Madrid out tonight.
The game gets underway by Manchester United. The ball goes back to Matic and Manchester United hoof it long. Antonio Valencia picks out a lovely ball up top to the big man Romelu Lukaku and it’s well covered by the Real Madrid keeper, Keylor Navas.
Well defended by Nemanja Matic which leads to a Madrid corner the first one of the game. The spin of the ball makes it difficult for the Manchester United defenders and it comes too quick at Bale which sees it deflects over the bar that sees De Gea in. Real Madrid seem to be controlling the game in the early stages of this match.
Good acceleration from Lingard through the Madrid defence but a heavy touch leaves it in the hands of Keylor Navas. Mkhitaryan does a delightful one two with Lukaku and he looks to be through on goal and he seems to lose his footing but claming to have been touched that sees him in the deck, Mkhitaryan again crosses the ball low and is defended very well by Luka Modric. (0- 10 Minutes) The game has no momentum, it’s just 50/50 back and fourth but a good ball in by Madrid and well defended by Lindelof and a corner to Madrid that sees a Casemiro header crack off the crossbar and Manchester United lead a wonderful counter attack that sees a Paul Pogba shot deflect and in the hands of Keylor Navas, still 0-0. Casemiro with a shot from just outside the area which is a decent shot but he can’t keep it down. (10-20 Minutes)
Real Madrid now have a very strong stance on this game (21 minutes) and are controlling the game from defence to attack, everytime a ball comes the two Centre backs they struggle to clear their lines. Manchester United are struggling to keep possesion but Real Madrid on the other hand are showing United on how to keep possesion.
Goal: Real Madrid. 23rd minute (Casemiro) Carvajal with a lovely ball in and Lindelof can’t see the Madrid player and Casemiro looks offside but it doesn’t stop him sliding and putting it in the back off the net. Here’s some match info- Possession stats. Real Madrid 65% and Manchester United 35%. (26th minute). Real Madrid are making Manchester United work for ball possession and in this heat United are struggling to keep up with their opposition. (20-30 Minutes)
First drink break of the game (30th minute) due to the heat here in Macedonia and the break will last 3 minutes, it will give the players to get some fluids and for their repspective teams the manager gets some extra time to get into their players head. The game continues with a goal kick for Real Madrid. Foul on Pogba by fellow french international Raphael Varane, free kick to United Lingard and Herrera stands by he floats the ball towards Nemanja Matic but there’s too much on the ball and goes out for a goal kick.
Lukaku and Herrera miss communication that could of led to a Manchester United goal after a mistake by Toni Kroos in the middle of the pitch that sees Herrera and Lukaku through on goal, Pogba with a shot and deflects to the feet of Marcelo and his pass sees Madrid go up the pitch. Herrera with a scuffed shot, Manchester United seem to be under pressure as soon as they take possession, it’s very hard for Manchester United to get a real grip on the game. First yellow card of the game comes to a Manchester United player in the name of Jesse Lingard. Benzema with a low power drive and smartly saved by David De Gea, Mourinho looks very frustrated because his team can’t keep ball possesion. A Pogba cross picks a delightful paul to Lukaku that sees his header straight in the hands of Keylor Navas.

The second half gets underway by Real Madrid.
First substitute of the game comes for Manchester United that sees Marcus Rashford come on and he replaces Jesse Lingard. Real Madrid play the ball to the back and pass around and it’s seems to be what happened in the first half, keeping possession well. Luka Modric with a delightful pass to Benzema that sees a cross cleared by Chris Smalling.
First test for De Gea in the second half is a wonderful save that led from a wonderful shot by Toni Kroos that leades to a corner which comes to nothing and Marcelo keeps the ball alive he shoots that deflects goes side netting and nothing comes from it.
Wonderful team goal by Real Madrid, Benzema to Isco a one two to Bale that leads Isco to a wonderful finish. Glorious opportunity for Manchester United a Paul Pogba header comes off Navas and in the feet of Lukaku that sees his shot over the bar he should of scored from that position.
The second change from Manchester United sees Herrera leave the pitch and is replaced by the Belgium international Fellaini. The balance of the Real Madrid side is absolutely impressive, Mourinho’s side will take a few years to get to that level. Casemiro with a wonderful ball through the United’s defence that sees a Bale thunderbolt shot that leaves the crossbar shaking.
Matic has a wonderful shot that deflects of Navas and in the feet of Romelu Lukaku who places in the back of the net. Game on for Manchester United! Fellaini seems to be chasing all the loose balls which is good on perspective for United. Zidane uses two substitutes that see Asensio and Vazques enter the game. Matic with a delightful ball in and Fellaini is there to header the ball and unfortunately is involved with a head collision with Sergio Ramos. The United old boy Cristano Ronaldo joins the game as he replaces Benzema.
