Liverpool v Man Utd - Preview

One of the biggest games in world football kicks off today at 12.30pm GMT with England’s two most successive clubs go head to head. Klopp’s team go into the game all the better for the international break after their poor run of form before the break taking just four points from the previous five games. They have also been knocked out of the Carabao Cup to Leicester and held to 1-1 draws against Sevilla & Spartak Moscow.

Mourinho’s men on the other hand been nearly flawless in terms of results so far this season, winning both champions league games, progressing through to the 4th round of the Carabao Cup & joint top with city Neighbours separated only on goal difference.

The bookies have Liverpool slight favourites going into this one, but as most fans will know form goes out the window with this type of match. Liverpool at home in front of their home fans will want to put on a good performance & United will want to continue their rich vein of form.

The last three meetings between the two sides in all competitions have seen three successive draws. You have to go back to the snatch and grab winner from Wayne Rooney in January 2016 for United’s last win versus the Merseyside club.

Big blows for both teams came during the international break in that Sadio Mane is out for 6 weeks and Fellaini is out for two weeks. Two players who are key to each team’s system and both managers would love to have available today!

I’m a strong believer in not losing these big away games, so I would take a draw if you hand it to me now. I’m going for a 1-1 draw to carry on the run of draws in this fixture.
