Atlantic City FC 2018 Season Preview

This season sees Atlantic City’s first ever club roster. Our assembled team has a vast amount of experience and youth that ranges from seasoned professionals to promising young college talents. Nick Hanuscin is a 22 year old defender from Somers Point, New Jersey who has previously played for Saint Francis PA Men's Soccer. He is hoping to add something special to the defence and for this season he believes "We have some very talented players and I would expect us to compete and win a lot of games. For me I'm hoping to bring passion and energy to every game and practice session. I want to learn as much as I can from these guys here at Atlantic City. Correntin Diverres is a 20 year old from Guildel in France. He is a young talented midfielder who has represented France at U17 and U19 level while playing in Ligue 1 side Lorient’s Academy. The 20 year old said “Previously I was at Lorent’s Academy where I played the best youth teams in France like PSG, Rennes or Lyon. I'm a technical player who likes the game and playing one, two touches. I truly believe in this project and really want to be part of it. I want to share great moments with my team mates and win a lot of games". Cameron Vickers is a 29 year old winger from Auburn, Washington. The wide-man has previously played with MLS side Portland Timbers. He said "I think everyone is really excited for this season, the staff has done a great job putting together a good mix of experienced and local talent together. Everyone expects big things and us to challenge for the trophies right away. " Matt Moody is one of the youngest players in the squad. The midfielder from Dublin, Ireland has had trials with England at U16 and Dundee’s first team in the Scottish Premier League. The 18 year old said "My plan is to the best for the team and get in my starting 11 each week. Next season I want to try get signed by a professional team. The best highlights from my career so far is training with Dundee FC first team and scoring against Preston North End academy from the half way line. I also scored on my England trial.” Victor Souto is a 24 year old midfielder from São Paulo, Brazil. He started his career at Brazillian giants Corinthians. He was there for 12 years before departing to America to join Portland Timbers, but a year later he joined Orlando City. He then left Orlando and went to college where he played more than 66 games for Akron Zips Soccer team. After leaving college he joined the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, making 26 appearances. Rich Balchan is a 29 year old right back from Indiana. The full back made his debut in the MLS for Columbus Crew in 2011, going on to make 20 appearances. The was released in 2012 after an injury ended his season early. He was quickly picked up by another MLS side, Real Salt Lake in 2013 going on to make 14 appearances before spells with Tampa Bay Rowdies, Ottawa Fury and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Julius James is a well known player in America. He has made over 90 MLS appearances with clubs such as DC United, Columbus Crew, Toronto and Houston Dynamo. The 33 year old defender brings a wealth of experience and is a full international, represtenting Trinidad and Tobago 16 times. Matt Perrella is a 26 year old goalkeeper from North Brunswick, New Jersey. The shotstopper started his playing career at Rider University. He travelled to the United Kingdom 4 years later to get his masters degree before being scouted by English Premier League side Newcastle United while playing with non-league side Durham City. This led to trials for well-known European sides Udinese and APOEL. He then moved back to America and has played with Bethlehem Steel and Pittsburgh Riverhounds since being home. Julian Van Veen is a 19 year old defender from The Isle Of Man. The young full back has loads of potential. He has played for CDA Deportiva in La Liga Y. Julio Jaier Noel is a 26 year old winger from Trinidad and Tobago. The winger has tons of pace and will cause trouble around the edge of the box. He is also a full international having represented his country on a number of occasions. Julio said: “I’m really excited and ready for the season to begin. We have lots of expectations for this season. I’m looking to bring speed, flair and top-class football to Atlantic City.” Ecario Solano is a 24 year old Midfielder from Ventnor City, New Jersey. He is a local home-grown talent. He is a starter at College for Stockton University. Zach Burns is also a student at Stockton University. The 20 year old is a full back. Another local home-grown talent hailing from Washington Township, New Jersey. Oliver Van Veen is a 20 year old striker from Madrid, Spain. He started his football career at AD Nervion which has a reputation for creating good and talented footballers. Over the years players have progressed to professional clubs like Real Madrid, Sevilla, Cadiz and Real Betis. The club is considered to have one of the best youth academy's in their city after Sevilla and Real Betis. Oliver moved to Belgium club Beerschot-Wilrijk in 2017. Seiji Rose is a 23 year old defender from Toulouse in France. The defender is the club’s first ever confirmed signing from our open try-outs held in February and is delighted to have been given this opportunity. He studies at Jefferson University and has played in many games for them. Last season he was the team captain and featured in more than 20 games. Ryan Adeleye is a defender from Elizabeth, New Jersey. The 30 year old has spent most of his lengthy career in Israel playing for professional clubs like Hapoel Jerusalem, Hapoel Ashkelon and Hapoel Be'er Sheva. He has made over 100 appearances for all 3 club combined. After his time in Israel came to an end, he moved back to America when signing for Pittsburgh Riverhounds where he made 12 appearances. Matthew Broomall Is a 23 year old goalkeeper from Somers Point, New Jersey. The keeper is 6ft 4 so will be hard to miss. He is one of many successful products produced from Somers Point. He is a former Mainland High School Goalie and has had 27 clean sheets in his NCAA career. He has Also played overseas in Sweden. Matt Hendrickson is a 21 year old attacker who can play anywhere from winger, attacking midfielder and striker. He was born In Sewell, New Jersey. Matt played 22 times for his former school Montclair State University in 2015 where he scored 11 goals and managed 2 assists. In 2017 Matt started every game for Rowan Men's Soccer who came second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. He scored an unbelievable 7 winning goals and had 12 for the season in total which made him the clubs second highest scorer. Alex Nicol is our seeing second player from Rowan men's soccer to join the aces. The midfielder is 19 years old. Alex appeared in 20 games last season for the Owl's, scoring two goals which came against Frostburg State University and Kean University. Ryan Shields is an English talent formerly on the books of English Premier League sides Manchester United and Stoke City. Ryan Shields spoke to me and mentioned his high expectations for the season ahead: “I played for 5 years at Manchester United as a youth in England. I’m looking forward to helping Atlantic City make history in our first ever season.” Sidney Rivera is a 24 year old striker from Slaten Island, New York. Sidney spent his whole college career at Old Dominion University where he made 48 appearances where he scored 11 goals. He led the team to a first ever Conference-USA championship. He won the tournament's most offensive MVP. In 2015 he was selected in the 2015 MLS superdraft by Orlando City. During his time with Orlando he played for Louisville City and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on loan. After being released by Orlando he signed for Puerto Rico FC. Nemanja Vukovic us is a 33 year old defender from Yugoslavia. He has had a 15 year old professional playing career and is a key addition for the Aces. He has spent most of his career in Montenegro with FC Kom, Buducnost Podgorica, and Mladost Podgorica. He had a brief spell away from Montenegro when he moved to Greek team Pantolikos. In 2012 he signed for Columbus Crew before returning to Montenegro again. In 2014 he signed for Sacramento Republic FC playing 56 games, scoring 4 goals and leading them to the 2014 USL Championship. Rafael Uiterloo is a 27 year old striker from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The striker is a goal machine and know where the back of the net is. He has scored over 100 goals in the Dutch divisions. Uiterloo made his professional debut for Eredivisie side FC Utrecht in the 2008-09 season opening game when they suffered a 5-1 defeat, Uitlerloo was the goal scorer that day for the home side. Brandon Payne is 20 year old midfielder from Dublin, Ireland. He joined Celtic in 2014. After impressing for the Glasgow side he was called up to play for his country in the U17 UEFA championships qualifying round for their match against Hungary. Payne made his debut that day and went on to be a regular and become captain of the Ireland U17 squad. Aidan Thornell is a 18 year old midfielder who has come from the University of Scranton. Last season was his first season with the Royals. He started in more than 17 matches. Romario Depalmer is a 19 year old home-grown winger from Clifton, New Jersey. Romario studies at Rutgers University. Michael Lescano is a 19 year old shot stopper from Union, New Jersey. He currently studies at Stockton University. Michael has been playing in net since he was a young age. He was selected into the New Jersey Olympic programme and then also accepted to participate in an English tournament where he played against sides such as Manchester City, Leicester City and Everton. In 2015/16 he decided to play with his school to try help them win their 10-time national championship. Michael told me: “My ambitions for the season are quite simple, I would like people to see that we are a team that has the capability to do great things, even win the league. Having players from all over the world with different levels of experience will be key to our success. I think the experience will be a great tool for myself to use once my college season in the fall starts up again. I am a player who is comfortable with the ball at my feet and loves to manage the defensive line. Even though I am one of the youngest players on the team surrounded by experienced players and internationals I’m confident in my ability that I can contribute a lot to the team.” Shane McFaul is a very experienced midfielder from Dublin, Ireland. The 31 one year old’s professional career started in 2002 at English side Notts County as a 16 year old. After leaving Notts County he had a short time in Virginia. In 2009 he joined an exciting project in Ireland with newly formed Sporting Fingal. He went on to make 68 appearances. He was part of the team which won the title in 2009 and Also won the FAI Cup when they beat Sligo Rovers at the Tallaght Stadium. He has since also had spells playing in Finland and India’s top-flights. Jack Miller is a 20 year old right back from Scotland. He was part of the Wingate University team which won the 2016 NCAA Championship. In his native Scotland, Jack also played with Scottish Premier League sides Aberdeen and Hearts at youth level. Miller said: “I’m delighted to be playing for the club this summer. Coming from scottish football, I’ll bring aggression and a winning mentality to the team. I can’t wait to get started and be surrounded by the number of professionals and the team.” Joseph Dikmak was officially the clubs first ever signing. The 21 year old home-grown midfielder from Marlton, New Jersey was captain of the Stockton University men's soccer team. Mario Mastrangelo is a 21 year old striker from Venetia, PA. The striker was the joint top scorer for his club Saint Francis last season. He was the 12th highest scorer in the NCAA division and won a number of player of the week honours. Nico Mastrangelo is Mario’s twin brother and plays in defence. Last year Nico won a number of player of the week awards in 2017 for the NCAA. Vinceroy Nelson is a 21 year old striker from Piscataway, New Jersey. The striker was born in St Kitts and is a national team striker for his country. He played a number of games for Kean University before joining the Cavon Rockets. Sean Russell is a 24 year old midfielder from Dublin, Ireland. The playmaker has played for a number of Irish Premier sides such as UCD, Longford Town, Shelbourne and Limerick before he thought it was time to move on. He was signed by USL side, Louisville City for a year but then returned home to Ireland to play with Drogheda United. Milan Devuyst is a midfielder from Belgium who has played for Cercle Brugge, KV Oostende and KMSK Deinze in his native country. In the USA he has played with ODU and Manhattan Jaspers. Michael Gallulo is a 23 year old American midfielder who previously played with Marsta IK in the Swedish Third Division. Before that he played for Indiana Hoosiers where he won 2012 Indiana Soccer Player of the Year. Finally, Johnny Maxted is a local home-grown midfielder who plays for Stockton University. Edward Franzoni and Ganzer add depth to the defence for our first ever season. Earlier in the year the club announced the signing of Lucas Dos Santos Oliviera, a 26 year old winger from Brazil. The 26 year old winger started his career at FC before moving to Germany. In 2013, he was sold for £23,000 to Finland side Bollklubben-46. Since then he has played for 5 different clubs in Finland, commencing over £100,000 in transfer fees. The club has mutually agreed to terminate the playing agreement due to personal reasons preventing the player from moving over this season. He has since signed for Mikkelin Palloilijat in Finland and we wish him all the best for the season ahead. Atlantic City Owner, Drew Weilgus commented: “It has taken an incredible amount of work to put together the most competitive and exciting roster we possibly could here in Atlantic City. In addition to such a competitive squad of experienced professionals and promising college talents. We have also appointed a former US International in Jeremiah White as our Technical Director and Kristian O’Leary (formerly of Swansea in the English Premier League) as our head coach. I’m incredibly excited to watch the squad develop over the course of the season.” Director, Chris Ross also said: “Everyone has worked tirelessly to put together our first ever squad for the forthcoming season. We have a great group of players who I know will give their all in both training and on a match-day and that’s all we can ask. I’m confident we achieve great things as a club this season.”
