Transfer Window Roundup

As the season ends and the World Cup is a day away, we think it’s fitting that we do a slight recap of the biggest moves that have happened till this day, and which teams have had the biggest impact on the transfer market.

First, we’ll talk about some of the rumours floating around. Multiple sources claim that Roma dynamo, Radja Nainggolan, is on his way out. Multiple sources are saying that he will reunite with former Roma coach, Luciano Spalletti at Inter. Italian outlet Il Tempo stated today that Roma coach, Di Francesco, is unhappy with El Ninja and is upset with the fact that the Belgian refuses to listen to him when he asked him to keep his private life a little more private. Arsenal is rumoured to be in advanced talks with Bayern Leverkusen ace and German shot stopper, Bernd Leno. After securing the signature of Sampdoria youngster Lucas Torreira, Arsenal is trying sure up more than just their midfield, whilst the gunners are also linked with French wide-man Thomas Lemar, it seems as though his future will be in Spain playing for Atletico Madrid.

This transfer window has given us a lot so far; Liverpool making marquee signings after their illustrious UCL run, Roma strengthening in numbers, Juventus searching for replacements, and the plethora of youngsters making big moves.

Liverpool silently signed Monaco midfielder, Fabinho. A man who’s signature every top team was after until Liverpool emerged from the shadows to secure the signing for roughly €48 million including bonuses. If that wasn’t enough, they also snatched up long time target Naby Keita from RB Leipzig. Although losing Emre Can to Juventus, Liverpool’s transfer window has just begun and it’s starting off on a fantastic note. On the topic of Juventus, they have acquired Emre Can for free, while also securing the signature of Genoa shot stopper, Mattia Perin; who in my opinion, is potentially Buffon’s true heir to his throne. The best part of the deal was, they’ve obtained his signature for a measly €13m, that’s nothing for a goalie of his caliber. It’ll be very interesting to see how it shapes up with him and Szczesny fighting for a spot as the No.1.

Manchester United has been quite busy this transfer window, in attempts to take back the title of the best team in Manchester. The Red Devils have signed Shakhtar midfielder, Fred, and 19 year old Portuguese full back Diogo Dalot for €20m, quite the gamble for a player who’s only featured in Porto’s senior squad a grand total of 6 times. But Jose Mourinho describes him as the future of fullbacks and thinks he’ll compliment Lindelof well. Roma has been making moves for the future as well, they’ve already secured Dinamo Zagreb and Croatian international Ante Coric, Bryan Cristante, and Justin Kluivert. Roma has also signed Porto centre back Ivan Marcano for free. In total the giallorossi have spent close to €60m on four guys. You can guarantee they’ll be looking to recuperate some of that money, so look out for Il lupi making a big money sale after the World Cup, with the likes of Alisson Becker linked with a move to Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City, Roma will have to try real hard to maintain him.
