Premier League Predictions - Week 8 - Jose to win, Pool to draw

Brighton v West Ham

West Ham are on the back of some excellent results, most notably wins against Man Utd, Everton and a draw versus Chelsea. Brighton are now 4 games without a win but won both fixtures last season scoring a total of 6 goals. However, on current form there is only winner!

Prediction: 0-2

Burnley v Huddersfield

Burnley have won the last two games and have a turned a corner. This, for me, was expected once the Europa League campaign was over there squad could prepare for games week to week. I can’t see Huddersfield getting anything from this game, they are last with 2 points and its going to be a tough season for them.

Prediction: 3-0

Crystal Palace v Wolves

Some mixed results for Palace and were beaten by Bournemouth in the last few mins due to a ridiculous decision by Sakho. Wolves are on a good run of form, 3 wins out 4 games. This is a tough game to call, so I’m going to sit on the fence

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester v Everton

Leicester have bounced back after some difficult results but an Everton win will put them level on points going into the international break. Marco Silva will be a good addition for Everton and I think Everton may nick this one, with their team nearly fully fit.

Prediction: 1-2

Spurs v Cardiff

Cardiff are not getting anything out of this game. Between both them & Huddersfield it’s going to be a tough season. Spurs showed terrific effort against a Barcelona side on Wednesday but were lacking in that bit of quality and Messi was an issue. With some potential returns from injury, Spurs will have too much for this Cardiff side.

Prediction: 3-0

Watford v Bournemouth

This is a fantastic game, both teams are on level points and play some great football. Watford have started this season really well and if they can get a win will be on 16 points! Bournemouth also that carrot to look for, who picked up a great last minute win versus Crystal Palace. This is too tough to call, but I’m going to go for home advantage with a Troy Deeney winner.

Prediction: 2-1

Man Utd v Newcastle

Two teams who are going through tough times, both on & off the pitch. Jose Mourinho can’t buy a win at the moment and consistent pressure around him keeping his job. Rafa & his off pitch issues with Newcastle owner, Mike Ashley, has his own issues. Losing 4-1 last season at Old Trafford, most people can’t see more than 1-0 getting scored in this game. This could be the end of Jose’s Mourinho’s reign as United manager, but I think he will survive, just.

Prediction: 1-0

Fulham v Arsenal

Fulham have had two defeats and 2 draws in the last 4 games and I don’t see them getting a win here either. 10 points and a swing in 13 goals in Arsenal favour will see the Gunners run out winners against their London neighbours. Fulham’s style of play will always give you chances & Lacazette & Aubameyang will get a few chances to punish the Cottagers.

Prediction: 0-3

Southampton v Chelsea

I felt Mark Hughes would be the first PL manager to lose his job, at the moment the Saints look a bit toothless in attack. Sarri’s side have been excellent and they were unlucky not to hold onto their lead against Liverpool except for a wonder goal by Sturridge. Hazard will be a massive difference in this game and will run out comfortable winners.

Prediction: 0-3

Liverpool v Man City

Game of the weekend and it’s going to be cracker! If Liverpool can win, it will have been a great week in the Premier League, a draw away to Chelsea & beating the champions to go out right leaders in the PL. Salah is not performing to the levels he was last season, but this could be a the catalyst for that return. Sergio Aguero has been on fire and Liverpool will have to defend exceptionally well to stop him from scoring. The psychological advantage the winner gets from this match would be quite significant, but I don’t think there will be one.

Prediction: 1-1
