Who is Arsenal's target Andrija Živković?
So the first part of my 2-Part scouting mission was CM, Oğuzhan Özyakup. The second part is another player who Arsenal have been heavily linked with for a while now, a winger from Benfica.
Name: Andrija Živković.
Who is he?
Živković began his Footballing career at Partizan Belgrade, joining their Academy at thirteen years old and it only took him three seasons to make his full senior debut and an additional season before he was actually named captain of the team. He made his National Team debut in a 2-0 win over Japan in a friendly (at 17 years, 3 months, this made him the youngest Serbian international player ever.) He also helped Serbia to win the U20 World Cup back in 2015, playing all games and scoring twice in the process.
Živković enjoys close ball control, running at the opposition's defence and scooting past them with his slick pace. His interactions both on and off the ball leave little to the imagination and Živković loves to cut in on the inside which is great because he's a left footed player, primarily on the right wing.
Andrija Živković is very quick and nimble, he's agile and at just 5'7" evades full backs with ease. He's brilliant and using the space around him as well as creating it for others. Despite his small frame, Živković stands his ground in duels and doesn't take things lying down as it were. His crossing ability, coupled with his technical prowess and dribbling creativity bring no end of entertainment when he's on the pitch and his speed gives that extra momentum to his innovative stance. He is quite adaptable in one on one situations.
Andrija Živković is an extremely all-round player who doesn't really have much in the way of a weakness, save for perhaps his physique. Being only 5'7" and not exactly very muscular, Živković in the aforementioned one on one duels doesn't always come on out on top and this can sometimes have an effect on his ball retention, however at only 21 years old with a way to go yet, this will be something I believe the young Serbian can overcome. His weak foot I believe also needs to be addressed, but again this is something that'll come with training.
Arsenal have been watching Živković since he moved to Benfica from Partizan and had scouts to watch him at the European U21 Championships in Poland as well as several times this season. Arsenal are definitely in need of a proper winger who can help seal the connection between Özil and Mkhitaryan and who'll function nicely behind Aubameyang or Lacazette. Whether Wenger is still the manager in the summer or not, I believe Arsenal will definitely attempt to prise the young winger from the arms of Benfica before deadline day.
