Manchester United close in on Casemiro deal

Casemiro, close to Manchester United

Real Madrid and Manchester United are in full negotiations to try to reach an agreement for the signing of Carlos Henrique Casemiro (30 years old). The operation has come to the public light just this week, but the truth is that it has been cooking in the back-stage since around the beginning of August.

It was then that Manchester United contacted Casemiro to find out how his situation was at Real Madrid. The English club realized from that moment that the footballer was open to listening them. The Brazilian felt, and continues to feel, that the end of his stage at the Santiago Bernabéu is near. To this reason for wanting to leave is added the most important: the economic one.

If the deal ends up closing, Casemiro will earn just under double his current salary at Real Madrid. At his age, it's an almost impossible contract to refuse. In addition, in Concha Espina he signed in his last renewal until 2025 and with Manchester United he will sign until 2026 or, more likely, 2027. That is to say: more money for more years is ready for him.

Casemiro has had doubts about the Manchester United project because he has studied its institutional and sporting problems. Not playing in the Champions League has greatly conditioned his decision and increased his doubts. But these arguments do not seem to be definitive.

The player has been in charge of doing the 'dirty work' with Real Madrid, instead of Manchester United. The Brazilian has taken advantage of his great relationship with Florentino Pérez to prepare the way for the first offer from Manchester United, of around 60 million euros; the deal could be sealed at around 70 million euros. This would mean that Casemiro would leave Real Madrid after winning 18 titles and leaving 57.6 million euros in clean profit.

Many of his teammates did not know Casemiro's decision this Thursday morning in Valdebebas. The coaching staff, however, assumes that Casemiro's wish is to change the scene.

It is not yet closed, but all parties now consider that Casemiro will sign for Manchester United. Real Madrid would not have had any problem, on the contrary, if he stays; but the club have left the decision in the hands of the footballer, with the board happy because his departure would mean a large economic injection.

The English team will benefit from the Brazilian's hierarchy and experience. However, I have some doubts how the high rhythm of the Premier League will affect a player of Casemiro's age in one or two seasons. In my opinion, it is a great reinforcement for the present for Manchester United, but it is not the solution to their many lacks or a safe investment in the medium and long term. The best I see is that Casemiro can strengthen Bruno, affected by the bad dynamics of the team.
