The performance of the Man Utd team versus Brighton was in my mind shocking, awful, disappointing, pitiful. It’s difficult to see professional players not doing the basics of football right. Clearing your lines, passing to your own players, running with players was just not executed.

There has been a lot of talk about how United play, their style. I’m not concerned about style, as long as players are doing the basics first which I outlined at the start of the piece.
Certain players are being said they are regressing but some players are not good enough either. Martial was poor, Lingard is not very good on the ball, Lakaku’s miss at 0-0 didn’t help his cause as in the World Cup he was fantastic, Pogba was shocking!
On the flip side, this is the same United team that lost to Brighton last year and finished 2nd! The feeling of pessimism around the club since pre-season has not helped the cause, he is creating his own downfall.
