Eredivisie Season Preview 2018/2019

Who will win the Eredivisie?

I think that Ajax will become Champions this season . They have brought well, signing Tadic & Blind. Keeping De Ligt and Ziyech will provide a great base to mount a title challenge

Top 3?

My top three is Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV.

Relegation?

Heracles Almelo (Relegation play-offs) Excelsior Rotterdam (Relegation play-offs) Fortuna Sittard (Automatic Relegation)

Why should fans tune into Dutch Football?

Fans should tune into Eredivisie because of the young talent on show. The emphasis on youth is demonstrated by many clubs in the league. The unpredictability of matches too will provide great entertainment for fans across the globe. The league has seen the likes of Romario, Ronaldo, Suarez , Robben and Van Nistelrooy shine before going on to bigger and better clubs. Who’s next ?

What about PSV?

Mark van Bommel is the new manager of PSV and there is no doubt that he has a winning mentality and he will want to win in his debut season and the Dutch Cup provides the best chance to achieve that.

Team to watch?

Fortuna Sittard. They are back in the Eredivisie after a 16 year absence after financial difficulties in recent years and are very much our team to watch this season. They will enjoy the ride but I think to avoid relgation will be a bridge to far for the Eredivisie newcomers.

Players to watch?

Bryan Linssen . This attacking midfielder is intelligent with making late runs , scoring goals and assists. I have rated him since his days at VVV Venlo and is certainly a player to keep an eye out for.

Guus Til This 19 year old midfielder has such maturity for his years and Is an important part of AZ Alkmaar’s starting lineup and well and truly could be the breakout star in the Eredivisie this season.

Aaron Meijers is ADO Den Haag captain and a very underrated player in my opinion . He has great stamina and is a good man marker

Steven Bergwijn. This PSV winger has bags of pace and an eye for goal too . I interviewed his former Dutch international under 17 teammate Jari Schuurman who rated him as one of the best players he has played with so far in his career

Player of the year?

I was at the Ajax v Sturm Graz match where Dusan Tadic made his official debut for Ajax . He came on as a sub and played some good passes and provided an attacking threat . It says a lot when a player wants to leave the Premier League for the Eredivisie
